August is 1/2 already! We went to the doctor, and he's still long and lean and has a big head. :) He is sitting, laughing a lot, babbling a lot, and seems to really love big brother, despite all the bumps, squeezes and tugs he receives from him. August laughs at Raleigh's antics A LOT, which is unfortunate because it only encourages them. August is GREAT at falling asleep in his bed. Even daycare reported that when he's tired, he doesn't want rocking or anything, he just wants to be put in his crib. Then he squirms a little until he finds the right position, and he's out. Staying asleep at night leaves a little to be desired - he did much better before mommy went back to work, but for now, we enjoy extra hugs and cuddles in the middle of the night.
Despite it being Little Brother's (half-) birthday, Big Brother had the great idea that we could pretend that today is Raleigh's birthday. He mainly wanted cake. But, he has been doing such a great job listening and helping us, that we decided he deserves a special day. ...and because we had an angel food cake mix and only had to add water. Raleigh was very eager to help. As mommy was getting out bowls and pans, Raleigh got water in a cup from the refrigerator and poured it in the bowl. When I told him we needed to measure it first, he was eager to get a ruler. When we finally opened the box, he was pretty disappointed that it was "just sugar"--it looked nothing like the picture. He was pretty content with the cake and didn't ask for presents.
